Lào Cai officials given warning, disciplinary actions

 
Some officials and party members have made dishonest and incomplete declarations of their assets, violating the Law on Anti-Corruption, and causing ideological, moral, and lifestyle degeneration. HÀ NỘI — A number of officials in Lào Cai Province have been found to have violated Party regulations and shown poor responsibility and leadership that resulted in serious violations, the Party Central Committee’s Inspection Commission revealed at its 28th meeting held on Thursday in Hà Nội.

At the two-day meeting which ended on Thursday, the Inspection Commission concluded that the Party delegation to the People's Committee of Lào Cai Province for the 2011-16 term had violated Party principles, regulations and rules, and lacked responsibility and leadership.

Some officials and party members have made dishonest and incomplete declarations of their assets, violating the Law on Anti-Corruption, and causing ideological, moral, and lifestyle degeneration. They have also violated the regulations on what Party members are not allowed to do and neglected their role model responsibilities.

These violations have resulted in very serious consequences, causing significant damage to State property and finances, creating a negative public opinion in society, and affecting the reputation of the Party organisation and local authorities which led to the point of disciplinary actions being considered.

The commission said that those who must be held responsible for these violations and shortcomings include the Party delegation to the People's Committee of Lào Cai Province for the 2011-16 term, and individuals including Nguyễn Văn Vịnh, a former member of the Central Party Committee, former secretary of the provincial Party Committee (among other positions), Doãn Văn Hưởng, former deputy secretary of the provincial Party Committee, former secretary of the Party Committee (among other positions), Nguyễn Thanh Dương, former deputy chairman of the People's Committee (among other positions).

Lê Ngọc Hưng, former director of the Department of Industry and Trade (among other positions), Mai Đình Định, former director of the Department of Natural Resources and Environment (among other positions) are also responsible for the violations and shortcomings.

The Inspection Commission also decided to give warnings to the Party delegation to the People's Committee of Lào Cai Province for the 2011-16 term, and Vũ Đình Thủy, deputy director of the Department of Natural Resources and Environment, and Trịnh Huy Đại, former deputy chief inspector of the Department of Industry and Trade.

Those who are expelled from the Party included Nguyễn Ngọc Bích, former secretary and chairman of the Board of Directors of Apatit Vietnam Company, Lương Văn Na, former Party delegation member and deputy general director of the company, Cao Văn Tham, former Party delegation member and deputy director of the Planning-Market Department of Apatit Vietnam Company, Phan Văn Cương, former chairman of the Party Inspection Committee of the Department of Industry and Trade, and Ngô Đức Hoàng, Party member of the Financial Planning Branch of the Geological Survey of Việt Nam under the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment, and former deputy director of the Trade and Industry Office of the provincial People's Committee.

The Central Inspection Commission also suggested the Politburo consider taking disciplinary action against Nguyễn Văn Vịnh, Doãn Văn Hưởng, Nguyễn Thanh Dương, Lê Ngọc Hưng and Mai Đình Định. — VNS
