On August 17, the Ministry of Public Security announced that the Criminal Police Division of the Da Nang City Police—in coordination with the Hai Chau Ward and Dien Ban Dong Ward police—had swiftly investigated and identified a foreign national who broke into a local hotel and stole property worth over 500 million VND from a tourist. This breakthrough occurred just over a day after the report was received, and all the stolen property has been recovered.
Earlier, at approximately 7:30 AM on August 8, the Criminal Police Division received a report from the Dien Ban Dong Ward police regarding a theft at the Wyndham Hotel, located in the Ha My Dong A residential group, Dien Ban Dong Ward, Da Nang City.
According to the report of Mr. Alkhalifah Khalifah Abdvlaziza (born 1976, Saudi Arabian nationality), while staying at the hotel, a thief broke into his room and stole 1 Rolex watch, 1 Louis Vuitton bag, 1 Bvlgari sunglasses and 1 Hapas handbag. The total value of assets as reported by the victim is more than 500 million VND.
Determining that this is a theft of great property value, occurring in an area crowded with tourists and foreigners staying. If the incident is not quickly clarified, it will affect the security and order situation as well as the tourism and service environment in the area. The leader of the Criminal Police Department has directed to concentrate forces and urgently coordinate with Dien Ban Dong Ward Police to conduct an investigation.

According to initial testimony, Enola Iugai once entered Vietnam and lived in the Hoi An area. On the evening of August 7, 2026, Enola Iugai walked from the An Bang beach area toward the Wyndham Hotel with the intention of stealing valuables.
Around 2:00 AM on August 8, the suspect entered the hotel's villa complex and tried the doors of several units one by one. After searching for a while without finding anything of value, Enola Iugai discovered that Villa Vxx—where Mr. Alkhalifah Khalifah Abdvlaziza was staying—had been left unlocked.
Noticing two bags sitting unattended on a table in the living area, Enola Iugai stealthily took both bags and quickly fled the hotel.
He made his way to a vacant lot near An Bang beach and examined the contents of the bags; finding a watch, a pair of glasses, and other items, he kept them all.
On the morning of August 8, Enola Iugai took a hired vehicle to downtown Da Nang to evade detection and find a way to dispose of the stolen goods.
However, before he could carry out his plan, he was apprehended at approximately 9:00 PM on August 9. The arrest was executed by the Criminal Police Division in coordination with the Hai Chau Ward Police while he was staying at a hotel on Yen Bai Street.
During the subsequent investigation, the police seized the following items: a Rolex watch; a brown leather bag bearing the "LV" logo; a black leather bag marked "Hapas"; and a black glasses case containing a pair of black Bvlgari-branded glasses. All the seized items were confirmed to belong to the victim. The Investigative Police Agency (Criminal Police Division) of the Da Nang City Police has issued a decision to criminally detain Enola Iugai to investigate the act of "theft of property." Simultaneously, authorities are continuing to gather documents and evidence, as well as conduct further inquiries to uncover any other criminal offenses committed by the suspect, ensuring strict handling in accordance with the law.
