
Quang Ninh Provincial Police have just promptly discovered and rescued 34 foreigners who were lured to Vietnam by members of an international crime ring using the recruitment tactic of "light jobs, high salaries" to serve fraudulent activities in cyberspace.
Through an inspection of an accommodation location on Hung Vuong Street, Hai Yen 7 Quarter, Mong Cai 3 Ward, Mong Cai 3 Ward Police in coordination with Mong Cai Immigration Management Station discovered 34 foreigners, including 31 Filipino citizens, 1 Malaysian citizen and 2 Chinese citizens, all of whom had not declared temporary residence according to regulations.
Authorities confiscated 75 mobile phones, 31 laptops, 7 desktop computers, 1 tablet and many network devices. These people confessed to finding jobs via the internet and were promised high-income sales and customer care jobs by Chinese subjects. All instructions are carried out via Telegram, WeChat and Viber applications.
According to the police, the above group of people entered Vietnam for the purpose of tourism and finding jobs. When they arrived at the location as directed by the recruiters, they had not yet had time to participate in the fraudulent activity when they were discovered by the authorities. After propaganda and explanation, the victims coordinated with the police to clarify the case.
Completing the verification work, on June 30, the Police assisted 2 Chinese citizens to exit through Mong Cai International Border Gate; On July 3, 31 Filipino citizens and 1 Malaysian citizen continued to be taken to Noi Bai International Airport to complete procedures to safely return home.
The case contributes to preventing the activities of transnational fraud rings, and at the same time demonstrates the responsibility of the Vietnamese Police force in protecting the legitimate rights and interests of foreign citizens.
